Do You Do This In Your Marriage?

In marriage, as with any other relationship you have in life, you will have times of struggles. You might find that you and your husband get on each other's nerves. Maybe you argue with one another over things that seem insignificant. This is all normal. What matters is how you handle things when these moments arise.

It was about a week ago now, I walked in to the kitchen. Tim was preparing something for his dinner. I mentioned, "I need you to do me a huge favor." His response was, "What do you need now?" Okay, I was not feeling too good at the time, but to me, what he said to me was, "Leigha, you are such a bother, what do you need now?" I even told him that is how his statement made me feel and I would try not to be so needy.

That moment was not a pleasant one for me, but I did make it more than it needed to be. He has since let me know that he does not think I am a bother because he loves doing things for me. He wants to help shoulder the burdens I carry in our relationship. I love that he said that,  using words that I use here on the blog with you. That let me know they were from God.

7 Verses To Help Your Marriage

1. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIRV Give thanks no matter what happens. God wants you to thank Him because you believe in Christ Jesus.

Dear Father, thank You for my husband. I do not know where I would be without him in my life. Father, please help me to always be grateful of the things that he does for me. I know that it is because of our love of Jesus that we are together. Thank You so much. In Jesus' name, Amen

2. Jeremiah 29:11 GNT I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Thank You so much. In Jesus' name, Amen.

3. Proverbs 16:18 NIV Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

4. Matthew 7:3 CEV You can see the speck in your friend's eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye.

Oh Father, please forgive me for any times that I dwell on my husband's flaws. I don't in any way believe that I am perfect or that I manage things better than he does. Please help me to be his cheerleader and celebrate his strengths. I want to build him up with my actions and words and not tear him down. Help me to always focus on the log that is in my own eye, Lord. Help me to have new eyes to see the areas about myself that I need to correct and work on correcting them with Your help. Thank You so much.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

5. Matthew 7:12 Do for others what you would want them to do for you. This is the meaning of the Law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets.

Dear Father, thank You for my husband and for putting him in my life. Please help me to always be more focused on his needs than I my own. I want to treat him the way that I want to be treated. In Jesus' name, Amen.

6. Romans 12:18 ERV Do the best you can to live in peace with everyone.

7. Philippians 4:6 CEV Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.
