Sometimes The Answer Is "Wait"

Have you ever "longed" for something? Have you had a deep yearning for something,  but were too afraid to ask for it?

I have had times that I truly want something. As I mentioned in another post, if you pay attention to me, you can tell very easily what will make me happy. If I spend time hovering over one thing, bring the item to your attention, it is because I really want that item

I learned at a very young age not to ask for things. My dad had this way of saying things that made me feel like I was stupid or crazy for asking him for anything. So, I never did.

I have learned recently that I still have a tendency to expect the same reaction from Tim. I hesitate before I bring anything to his attention.

Waiting Is Hard

I can remember Phillip being three years old. He was potty trained, sleeping in a big boy bed, off of bottles, etc. That is when T and I started trying to get pregnant with Taylor.

That was a deep longing. I kept seeing babies everywhere,  but I did not get pregnant as easily as I did the first time. Month after month, I spent depressed and crying. However, I know now, that it was not God's will at that time.

It took 4 1/2 years of trying. It took 4 1/2 years of praying and waiting. I learned, the hard way, that sometimes God's answer is "wait."

Have you ever "longed" for something? Have you had a deep yearning for something, but were too afraid to ask for it?

Take It To God

1. Turn to the Lord.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV

2. Ask for what you want.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Mark 11:24 NIV

3. Ask for the Lord's will to be done.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
1 John 5:14 NIV

4. Continue to pray.

pray continually,
1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV

5. Wait.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Lamentations 3:25 ESV

1 John 5:14-15 NIV

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Prayer

Dear Father,  thank You for always being with me. Thank You for giving me the confidence that I need to approach You, Father. Thank You for listening to my prayers. For I know that whenever I pray, asking for anything according to Your will, You will hear my prayer. And I know that if You hear me, whatever I ask, I know that you will take action. I will receive what I ask of You. Thank you.  In Jesus' name,  Amen.

Before The Chaos

Does anxiety plague your day? Do you find yourself waking up, some mornings, in a panic?

Stress With A Side Of Dread, Please

It is not a secret, I struggle with anxiety and depression. I, sometimes, find myself waking up in the morning in a sheer panic.

Tim has expressed feeling the same thing recently. His job causes him a lot of stress. Since he is in the Senior Fancy Pants position, a lot of tasks are given to him as high priority. Then he has to overlook the other Fancy Pants people, help out when needed and so on. It just causes him a lot of stress, especially during "on call" week.

So, now, he has had a couple of mornings that he has gotten up filled with anxiety.  He tells me that he does not have anything that he is worrying about or dreading, but he can't shake the feeling.

Open Eyes, Pray

For me, if anything changes my perceived "normal", then I wake up with dread. Like today, for instance.  We have our yearly eye appointment this afternoon. No big deal. Really, I love our optometrist, he is so easy to talk to. But it changes the "normal" for me.

One thing that I really need to work on is seeking the Lord first in my day. Oh, don't get me wrong, I set aside time, every morning, for devotions and Bible reading. However, I am lacking at seeking Him first thing; eyes open, pray.

I need to turn to Him before my feet hit the floor. Before the chaos of the day gets out of hand. Before the enemy has a chance to throw things at me that distracts me. Turn to the Lord. Seek Him first.

I need to turn the day over to Him. I need to ask Him to be with me every single step of my day. I need to ask Him to help me with decisions and to ease my interactions. I need to allow Him to carry my burdens.

Psalm 90:14 NIV

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for being with me. Thank You for giving me the strength that I need to face this day. Father, please forgive me for not seeking You as soon as I wake up. I know that this is an area that I need Your help; Your guidance. I pray that You will satisfy me in the morning with Your unfailing love, so that I may sing for joy and be glad all of my days. In Jesus' name,  Amen.
