Bible Reading Plan, Rest

Are you someone that is able to enjoy being "in the moment"? Or are you someone that looks ahead at the "what could happen" moments?

I can honestly say that the Lord has been working to reveal the areas in which I need to slow down and rest.

Lay Those Burdens Down

I have learned that I am someone that will carry burdens the Lord never meant for me to carry. Some of the struggles that I have been dealing with, well, they are self-imposed. I am working hard on correcting that by laying those burdens down.

Another area that I really need help with is being able to slow down enough to be just in the moment.

What I mean by that statement is the Lord blesses me with time to spend with my grandson and for most of the time, I am depressed because I am looking ahead. I have to learn how to slow down enough to be in the moment. Rest in the here and the now. Tomorrow will take care of itself. My worrying over tomorrow or being depressed over what may happen, will not help things at all.

The Lord is saying:

1. Slow down

Rest in Me. I have control over this, so slow down and rest.

2. Be in this moment

I have blessed you with this moment. Rest. Be here, right now.

3. Tomorrow is still coming

I am still in control of tomorrow. Rest in Me. Let go of those worries.

Matthew 6:34 NIV

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Therefore I will not worry about tomorrow, for I know that tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34). Thank You for helping me to slow down and rest. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Where Do You Put Your Hope

Are you someone that is able to enjoy being "in the moment"?
Or are you someone that looks ahead at the "what could happen" moments?
How can I pray for you today?
If you will allow it, I will be happy to help carry your load.

Find Rest In Jesus

Are you weary? Are you feeling the burden of carrying too many heavy loads?

In my study on Rest, I have come across Matthew 11:28. The Lord is calling me to Him and He will give me rest.

What burdens are you struggling to carry by yourself? That heavy load was not intended for your shoulders alone. The Lord wants to help you with your burdens.

Health Issues Are Overwhelming

That thought really hits home for me. I have been struggling through some health issues and dealing with a lot of doctors visits and hospital visits. It all gets so overwhelming for me.

However, the load that I have been carrying and struggling hard to maintain is all online.

I set up a newsletter to go along with my blog because I felt it was something that I was "supposed" to do. The more that I struggle with it, the more that I beat myself up and feel like a failure, the more I hear the Lord telling me that it isn't something that He intended for me to do.

As much as I do not want to let anyone down, I just feel that letting go of my newsletter is the best course of action for me.

4 Verses To Ease Your Burdens

1. Psalm 55:22 ESV

Cast your burden on the Lord , and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

We can find comfort from all of our daily burdens when we cast them upon the Lord. He never intended for us to struggle through this life on our own. Turn to Him. He is there waiting.

2. Galatians 6:2 NIV

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

When we extend a caring hand to someone in need; when we offer to help carry their load; it will not only benefit them, but us as well. Let others see Jesus within you as you offer to help someone with their burdens.

3. Psalm 68:19 NIV

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.

Turn your cares over to the Lord. As you do, be sure to stop and thank Him for all of the ways that He carries your burdens every day.

4. Matthew 11:28 NIV

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

The Lord is calling. He wants each of us to come to Him and find rest

Here is my SOAP of Matthew 11:28.

S:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 NIV

-- other translations --

"Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 NIRV

“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 GNT

O:

The Lord wants me to bring Him my burdens, my heavy loads
He promises to give me rest

A:

When I feel overwhelmed
When I feel tired
When I feel burned out
I need to take my burdens to the Lord
Turn to Him and He will give me the rest that I need

P:

Dear Father,

When I feel overwhelmed, tired, burned out, please help me to turn to You with my burdens and to trust that You will give me the rest that I need. Thank You for all that You do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
