Don't Pull Away

When you face a really hard situation, do you turn toward God? Do you seek Him through prayer? Or do you pull away?

Can I be honest with you? I am someone that pulls away. Yes, even from God. It is something that I am working on.

I am currently going through some very odd health related things.

One issue is stomach related.

I have tried to cut out (everything) dairy, gluten <--- to the best of my ability, I don't eat a lot of carbs or sugar. I have even tried my hand at the low fodmap diet. However, nothing is helping me.

I have stomach issues. I try to eat two main meals a day with a couple of snacks in between. My second meal is usually around 1 pm. It is my "dinner". I do not put very much on my plate, but before I am finished eating, I either feel full or I already hear my stomach making horrible noises. I then feel bloated and just unwell.

The second issue is Meralgia Paraesthetica.

The second issue that I am dealing with is an icy cold sensation on my outer thigh. This is known as Meralgia Paraesthetica. This has something to do with a nerve that is being pinched or bound maybe in the groin area.

Now separate, these two issues are troublesome. I mean the stomach thing could be IBS or gastroparesis. However, the fact that these two issues have come about within the past 3 months or so. Well, even I know that they could be correlated.

Instead of withdrawing from the Lord, I want to turn all of this over to Him. Instead of wallowing in the fear of the "what ifs ", I want to give it to Him and let it go.

Today, we are going to look at Philippians 4:6-7 and 1 John 5:14-15 and making them personal prayers.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Please help ______ not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present ______ requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard ______ heart and ______ mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV). In Jesus' name, Amen.

1 John 5:14-15 NIV

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

This is the confidence ______ has/have in approaching You: that if ______ ask(s) anything according to Your will, You will hear ______. And if ______ know(s) that You hear ______ - whatever ______ ask(s) - ______ know(s) that ______ has/have what ______ asked of You (1 John 5:14-15 NIV). In Jesus' name, Amen.

Bible Reading Plan, God Hears

Do you know that God hears you when you pray? Do you know that He cares about you?

He cares about you.

Stop right there and think about that for a minute.

Let it sink in.

It does not matter what mistakes you have made. He can see past those mistakes and He cares about you.

He Wants To Know Everything

I have to admit that I struggle with my prayers. I struggle with knowing what to say and how to say it. However, none of that matters. All I ever really need to do is talk.

Our prayers are a just a form of communication with the Lord. And you know what? Since He cares about us, He wants to know everything.

So just talk, because He hears.

Read over 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV

S:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV

O:

Humble myself under God's hand
He will lift me up when the time is right
I can cast my anxiety, cares, worries upon Him
He cares for me

A:

I need to humble myself so that when the time is right God can lift me up again I need to remember that He cares for me and that I can cast my cares upon Him

P:

Dear Father, I pray that you will help me to humble myself under your mighty hand so that in due time you may lift me up again. Father, please help me to remember that you care about me and that I can cast my cares, my worries, my anxiety upon you (1 Peter 5:6-7). Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I would like to invite you to join me in July as I work through a Bible reading plan on God Hears. If you "like" my fb fanpage , you will find images each morning, with the verses.

I would also like to invite you to sign up for my newsletter . You will only receive something once a week. I will be picking verses from the God Hears reading plan and SOAPing it just as I did above.

Perseverance Leads To Hope

Have you recently lost a loved one? Are you helping a sick family member? Have you been diagnosed with something scary?

It was 2015 when I was diagnosed with secondary Adrenal Insufficiency. What a scary time that was for me.

I am just going to say it and get it out of the way....

When you are in the middle of helping someone through treatments with cancer, it needs to be a rule that you cannot get sick at the same time.

I developed what I thought was just a stomach bug. I could not keep anything down. This went on for over a week, but I just knew it had to run its course.

Finally, after T got home from his round of chemo treatments, he took me to the er. Then the battery of tests started.

My sodium level was 112 and it should be around 135. They started me on steroids to help with that.

That was a scary time for me.

In the end, it was determined that I have secondary Adrenal Insufficiency and need to take hydrocortisone every day just to function. Yes, that was a scary time for me.

Now it has been over 4 years since I was diagnosed and I find that I still struggle with things. Like for instance.... I used to be able to cook dinner, you know at dinner time, eat the food, and do the dishes. I try this now and I am doing good to just brown up some chicken and I need to take a break or I will collapse. <--- scary

Today, let's look at Romans 5:3-4 NIV .  Pray it over your life's struggles and hold it close.

Romans 5:3-4 NIV

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Let's Pray:

Dear Father,

Not only so, Father, but I pray that you will help ______ to glory in ______ sufferings, because ______ knows that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance produces character; and character produces hope (Romans5:3-4). Please help ______ to persevere. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praying Scripture Over Fear

Do you face your emotions head on? Or do you spend time living in denial?

Fear.

It is an ugly four letter word, isn't it? However, so many of us deal with fear in our lives.

I am dealing with this image that keeps playing over and over of something bad happening. I live with this sense of impending doom.

When I allow myself to think about it, for any length of time, I end up feeling depressed.

Something bad is going to happen. I can feel it.

Luckily, I believe in Jesus.

He is my Rock.

He is my shelter.

He is my hiding place.

Don't deny your emotions. Turn them over to the Lord and allow Him to guide you safely through your storms.

Let's look at Isaiah 41:10 NIV and make it a personal prayer.

Isaiah 41:10 NIV

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Please help _______ not to fear, for you are with ______. Help ______ not to be dismayed, for you are ______ God. You will strengthen ______ and you will help ______; you will uphold ______ with your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 NIV). In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praying Scripture For Comfort

Are you hurting today? Do you know that God loves you no matter what?

I have no idea what you are struggling with right now. I just want to remind you that you are not alone.

It is easy to take the pain that you are feeling, wrap yourself up in it, and hide away.

No Need To Hide

You do not need to hide away. I know it can be hard to remember, but Jesus told us in John 16:33 NIV “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Whenever I think of this verse, it helps me because I know that He didn't promise me that things would be easy. He said that I would have trouble, but <--- and that is a big but, He has overcome the world and it's troubles. That does bring me so much peace.

Let's take this verse and turn it into a personal prayer.

John 16:33 NIV

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Thank you for I know that you have told _________ these things, so that because of you, _______ may have peace. In this world ________ will have trouble. But _______ should take heart. You have overcome the world (John 16:33). In Jesus' name, Amen.

Hello dear friend. How are you things in your life progressing? Are things returning to a somewhat normal state for you? Around...
