Thanksgiving Remembrance

As you sit down for your Thanksgiving dinner, do you spend time reflecting over things that the Lord has done for you? Remember to give Him thanks.









Read over the following verses. Reflect on the part where the Lord had each tribe gather a stone. These stones were to be reminders of all that the Lord had done for them, so they could share the story with their children.





Joshua 4:1-9 NIV 





When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.” So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord . When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.





I went a bit further and took 12 stones. You can see, below, the things that the Lord has brought me through. I am so thankful, as I look back on these moments in time, to see how He was there with me.





12 Stones Of Remembrance  






Stone 1  Rescue ---- Tim came to my rescue. He carried me away from a bad homelife.




Stone 2  Wedding --- Tim and I were married on May 20th, 1988




Stone 3  Phillip --- I was in labor for 23 3/4 hours before he made his arrival. The first few doses of the epidural did not last longer than 15 minutes. He weighed 7 lbs 11 oz




Stone 4  Taylor --- It took 4 1/2 years of trying, crying, and praying before I finally got pregnant with him. I was in labor for 15 hours. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz



Stone 5  Jacob --- I was in labor for 8 hours with him. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz




Stone 6  Affair --- Tim had an affair and wanted out of our marriage. I spent a lot of time crying and praying. With the Lord's help, I decided to fight for my marriage even though I was told that I was taking the easy way out










Stone 7  Motorcycle --- Tim decided, without my input, to buy a motorcycle. I did not want to be left behind, so when he went riding, I went with him. One day, we had an accident




Stone 8  House --- We bought a house. After living for 18 years in a condo, we finally bought a house and moved




Stone 9  Cancer --- Tim was diagnosed with burkitt's lymphoma. It was the scariest time of my life




Stone 10  Cured --- Tim was cured




Stone 11  Addison's Disease --- I was diagnosed with Addison's Disease




Stone 12  Joshua --- My grandson was born





I would like to encourage you, as you sit with your family, this Thanksgiving, to try this stone of remembrance. Of course, it does not have to be stones at all. It could be as simple as passing around index cards and pencils to each person at your table. Have them think over the things in their lives that the Lord helped them through and write it on the card. It is amazing to look back on certain moments in our lives and see how the Lord was there and how He worked everything out for our best interests.

Dear Father,  




As I sit, with my family, this Thanksgiving, I pray that you will bring to mind those times that you have helped through. Help me to see your hand throughout my past and to give you thanks, on this day, and every day. Help me, also, to share these stories with my children so they can witness your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Writing Challenge; Ezra

Do you struggle with your quiet time? Do you have an interest in handwriting the scipture?

Thankful For You

Who do you have in your life that means a lot to you? Have you let them know that you are thankful for them?








The Lord has blessed you with certain people that take care of you, love you and reach out to you when they do not hear from you. I would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to let these certain people know that you are thankful for them.




Earlier this week, I received personal messages from two different people. These messages from these women meant more to me than either of them can know. Just the fact that they took the time to reach out and check on me and let me know that I have been in their thoughts... well, it means a lot. I am so thankful :).




Who do you need to reach out to? It only takes a few minutes to send a text message or personal message. Or, maybe you can write them a note. Just a little something to let them know they are in your thoughts and that you are thankful for them.

Prayer: 




Dear Father, 




Thank you for those that you have placed in my life. Thank you for the care, the love, the concern that I receive from each of them. Thank you for the friends that reach out to me when they do not hear from me <--- they are truly a blessing. Father, thank you for the one reading this. What a blessing she is to me. One Word Tips

Are you someone that sets resolutions for yourself every year? How well do you stick to your resolutions? Do you start off strong, but lose interest as time goes by?







I have never been good at sticking to my resolutions. I guess I lack follow through. So instead of feeling like I am letting myself down (and God), I stopped making resolutions every year.



Now, with the Lord's help, I pick One Word to focus on throughout the year. I will let you know, straight up, when you decide (with the Lord's guidance) on a word, you will notice things "happening". Changes in your life will take place that go hand in hand with your word.



How do you choose a word to focus on? 




1. Pray 



Ask the Lord for guidance in choosing a word



2. Cues 



Pay attention to cues - signs from the Lord. If you listen and pay attention, the Lord will start to reveal things to you. For me, it is always the fact that the word I am considering is used a lot. In other words, I hear the exact word a lot. I will even start to read about the word in devotionals. So, slow down enough to listen.




3. Verses, definition, synonyms 



Look up verses to go with your word. I, personally, will pick, at least one verse that goes with my word. That verse will then be my "verse of the year". Make sure that you look up the definition of the word you are considering along with any synonyms <--- you might come across something that speaks more to you.








4. Images 



If you are creative, start creating images with your word. If not, then look on google or pinterest for images with your word. Make sure the word is a true fit for you.




5. Share 



Share your word with family and friends so they can help keep you accountable. You might even consider making it a family word.

Father, I ask that as I go throughout the year you will give me ears that hear your direction. If I venture from the path, help me to hear your voice behind me saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Bible Reading Plan, Christmas Story

As the end of the year is quickly approaching, I thought I would put together a  Christmas Reading/Writing Plan for you. Can you believe that 2019 is almost over?







What are your hopes as we head in to this Christmas season? What goals do you hope to accomplish?



I cannot help but to reflect over past years. We would put up our tree shortly after Thanksgiving. Everything that went on the tree was either handmade or was a gift from someone else. Oh I do miss it so much.



We don't decorate anymore. However, the Lord has blessed us with unconditional love from 3 dogs and entertainment from our birds. We might not decorate for Christmas anymore,  but our house is filled with love all year long.

Luke 1:26-38 NIV 



In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”  Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”  “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.



Prayer: 



Dear Father, 



Thank you for the many blessings that you have given me. Father, I pray that you will give me eyes to see the blessings as you reveal them to me. Help me to stay focused on you in everything that I do. Thank you for blessing Mary, an ordinary woman, with Jesus. Help me to strive to be highly favored, in your sight and to know that you are with me. Father, I know that no word from you will ever fail, and I pray that your word be fulfilled.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Masterpiece

Do you believe that you are a masterpiece? Or do you feel like a failure; a mistake?








When I was younger, I spent a lot of time feeling like I was a mistake. God had made a mistake in creating me.




My mom had gotten pregnant with me. My dad did not want to marry her. He did not want me. He tried to talk her into an abortion, but she refused. After they were married, he got mad at her and threw her down. He was trying to cause a miscarriage. I just knew, in my little girl mind, that I was a mistake.




Then, one day, much further down the road, it just hit me. I survived all of that. God has a purpose for my life. Even though my earthly father did not want me, my heavenly one did. He does not make mistakes.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

God created me

He did not make a mistake when He created me
He has given me gifts ( calling through the Spirit ) to help minister to those in need




Am I thankful for who God created me to be?
Do I believe that I am His masterpiece?
Am I focused more on my perceived failings?
Am I using my gifts, the way He intended, to reach those in need?



Prayer: 




Dear Father,  




Thank you for who you have created me to be. I pray that you will help me to remember that I am your masterpiece. Help me to know that you do not make mistakes so I can turn my perceived failings over to you. Help me to use my gifts the way that you intended. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Focus More On Being Thankful

What are your struggles? Do you focus more on those struggles than you do on being thankful?








When we are in the midst of a struggle, no matter how big or small, it is hard to be thankful. I would, however, like to encourage you to refocus your thoughts. Stop for a few minutes. Turn everything over to the Lord and just thank Him for ..... everything.




Philippians 4:12-13 NIV 




I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.




To be in need <--- migraines ( almost daily ), fibromyalgia pain, stomach issues, depression, anxiety
To have plenty <--- medication, ice packs, other treatments that are available for my issues








Am I focused more on my struggles than I am on the fact that God is giving me the strength to endure?
Am I giving thanks for all that He has helped me through?
Am I giving thanks for the things that He continues to help me through?




Prayer:




Dear Father, 




I pray that You will help me to focus more on You than on my struggles. Help me to remember that You are there and that You give me the strength that I need to endure. Father, thank You for all that You have done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
